A zero-bond warrant removes the release valve. On a bondable warrant, a person can post the stated amount and go home pending a hearing. On a zero-bond warrant, there is no amount to post — custody continues until a judge acts.
Why blank fields matter in the database
An order setting bond at zero and a database record whose bond fields are simply empty are not the same thing, but they look identical to an officer reading a screen at 2 a.m. That ambiguity is why warrant data quality is a liberty issue rather than a clerical one.
