The refusal that begins the audit trail
On June 8, 2026, Lake County Criminal/Traffic Court Services responded that the case could not be added to the next day’s call because the office did not have the original motion and because the motion “must be filed by your attorney.” The email is attributed to Hanna Becerra and is reproduced in N.D. Illinois No. 1:26-cv-06738, Document 13, Exhibit C.
Why that email matters to the June 15 entry
The June 8 response is evidence that the papers were not accepted into the ordinary filing path at that point. It also fixes the office’s stated reason for refusal before the same record later appeared under the public-facing label Correspondence with a June 15 date.
The contradiction is documentary
The audit does not depend on reconstructing a phone call. One preserved document records the refusal; another public record displays the later entry. The unresolved question is what authenticated system event converted the refused submission into the June 15 docket item.
